Satan's Stones
By:"Moniru Ravanipur"
Published on 2010-07-05 by University of Texas Press
Women writers occupy prominent positions in contemporary Iranian literature, despite the increased legal and cultural restrictions placed upon women since the 1978-1979 Islamic Revolution. Satan's Stones is the first English translation of her 1991 short story collection Sangha-ye Sheytan. Often set in the remote regions of Iran, these stories explore many facets of contemporary Iranian life, particularly the ever-shifting relations between women and men. The wildly popular web comic SOPPY--with more than half a million notes on Tumblr--is the illustrated love story of author Philippa Rice and her real-life boyfriend. When two people move in together, it soon becomes apparent that the little things mean an awful lot. The throwaway moments in life become meaningful when you spend them in the company of someone you love. SOPPY is Philippa Rice's collection of comics and illustrations based on real-life moments with her boyfriend. From grocery shopping to silly arguments and snuggling in front of the television, SOPPY captures the universal experience of sharing a life together, and celebrates the beauty of finding romance all around us.

A Thesaurus of Old English: Index
By:"Jane Roberts","Christian Kay","Lynne Grundy"
Published on 2000 by Rodopi
A Thesaurus of Old Englishis conceptually arranged, and presents the vocabulary of Anglo-Saxon England within ordered categories. This allows the user to approach the materials of the Thesaurus by subject rather than through an alphabetic index as is the case for many thesauri. The provision of brief indications of meaning at all levels of this scheme allows word-senses to follow on from ideas explained, so that this thesaurus incorporates information about word meaning and could be described as an inside-out dictionary, with meanings first and then words. In addition to providing hitherto unavailable information for linguists, historians of language, authors, students of English, and textual scholars, A Thesaurus of Old Englishis a rich resource for investigating social and cultural history, showing the development of concepts through the words that refer to them.

Quotes to Live By . . .
By:"Marni S. Feldman"
Published on 2015-12-02 by Xlibris Corporation
To say the least, they mentioned, “With all your quotes, you should write a book.” I thought to myself, “That is a wonderful idea,” and they just poured out of me. I compiled them one by one, hour by hour, day by day, year by year, into one book. As I love quotes and sayings and clichés on anything. I love little hardback books, softback pocket guides, and so on. I’m drawn to quotes, and I know people are as they live by them: day by day! However, I then decided to break them down by category, by mood, by feeling, and by emotion, and they became chapters in the book: “Inspirational,” “General,” “Spiritual,” etc. For fun, I wanted to create some T-shirts, as I love baby tees. I love tissue cotton tees. I love characters and sayings on tees. I was going to make them with some simple sayings, but they took on lives of their own. The tees are pieces of artwork, such as the chapters in the books. I am drawn to them, and I know people are too, so that is why combining them, I feel, is such as neat way to express this unique concept. And that is how Quotes to Live By books (by ¡Think Again!) and Quotes tees (by lu•mi•nous) were born. It’s a timeless era. It’s a lifestyle. It’s a way of life. They are quotes to live by, so think again. Remember the Quotes, and always be luminous. Yours truly, Marni Enterprises, LLC

Harmonic Analysis on Reductive Groups
By:"W. Barker","P. Sally"
Published on 2012-12-06 by Springer Science & Business Media
A conference on Harmonic Analysis on Reductive Groups was held at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine from July 31 to August 11, 1989. The stated goal of the conference was to explore recent advances in harmonic analysis on both real and p-adic groups. It was the first conference since the AMS Summer Sym posium on Harmonic Analysis on Homogeneous Spaces, held at Williamstown, Massachusetts in 1972, to cover local harmonic analysis on reductive groups in such detail and to such an extent. While the Williamstown conference was longer (three weeks) and somewhat broader (nilpotent groups, solvable groups, as well as semisimple and reductive groups), the structure and timeliness of the two meetings was remarkably similar. The program of the Bowdoin Conference consisted of two parts. First, there were six major lecture series, each consisting of several talks addressing those topics in harmonic analysis on real and p-adic groups which were the focus of intensive research during the previous decade. These lectures began at an introductory level and advanced to the current state of research. Sec ond, there was a series of single lectures in which the speakers presented an overview of their latest research.

The Forty Rules of Love
By:"Elif Shafak"
Published on 2010-02-18 by Penguin
Listen to Elif Shafak's The Forty Rules of Love reviewed on NPR In this lyrical, exuberant follow-up to her 2007 novel, The Bastard of Istanbul, acclaimed Turkish author Elif Shafak unfolds two tantalizing parallel narratives—one contemporary and the other set in the thirteenth century, when Rumi encountered his spiritual mentor, the whirling dervish known as Shams of Tabriz—that together incarnate the poet's timeless message of love. Ella Rubenstein is forty years old and unhappily married when she takes a job as a reader for a literary agent. Her first assignment is to read and report on Sweet Blasphemy, a novel written by a man named Aziz Zahara. Ella is mesmerized by his tale of Shams's search for Rumi and the dervish's role in transforming the successful but unhappy cleric into a committed mystic, passionate poet, and advocate of love. She is also taken with Shams's lessons, or rules, that offer insight into an ancient philosophy based on the unity of all people and religions, and the presence of love in each and every one of us. As she reads on, she realizes that Rumi's story mir\u00adrors her own and that Zahara—like Shams—has come to set her free.
